Newport Beach Laser Hair Restoration
The Revage 670 Laser, available at our Irvine Ca, laser hair removal center, is the latest treatment for men and women with balding and thinning hair. Over 15 years of clinical and scientific studies show that Cool Laser Therapy can increase hair density by 40-60%. In addition, this treatment has shown an 85% success rate in halting the progression of hair loss.
All hair grows in cycles. At any given time, hair may be in a growing phase (Anagen), resting phase (Telogen), or in transition (Catagen). According to scientific research, Cool Laser Hair Rejuvenation Therapy induces dormant hair follicles into the anagen (growing) phase, stimulating a more vital, robust hair than the scalp follicles would produce on their own. In addition, it safely and painlessly stimulates cellular metabolism, protein synthesis, and regenerates tissue while increasing blood flow to the scalp.

Causes for Hair Thinning
| Genetics | Baldness and thinning hair sometimes stems from a genetic trait passed down from our ancestors. |
| Stress | Hormone imbalances and even psychological stresses can lead to, or accelerate hair loss. |
| Autoimmune | As in alopecia areta, the body can sometimes reject the hair as a foreign object, causing it to fall out. |
| Hair Transplantation | Hair restoration surgery is more appropriate for those in more advanced stages of hair loss. In certain cases with women, there is not enough donor hair to transplant, making them ineligible for transplantation. |
| Drugs | Taking drugs such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Propecia can prevent hair from getting to the point where transplantation is necessary. However, Propecia is not recommended for women in their child bearing years. |
The Technology Behind Revage
Revage uses low level laser therapy (LLLT) to stimulate hair into the Anagen (growth) phase. Revage uses red light lasers that rotate around the scalp clockwise and counterclockwise.
Red light lasers have been shown to:
-
Increase melanin production (this only happens during the anagen phase). Please note that the lasers are targeted to the scalp area and will not affect the forehead area or lead to brown spots. The laser can also help to reduce gray hairs.
-
Increase cell metabolism and the health of blood vessels in the scalp for thicker, supple and more durable hair shafts
-
Stimulate the sebaceous glands for silkier-looking hair
Over the course of treatment, hair loss (falling out) will decrease, the look of the hair will get fuller, and the health of terminal (unhealthy) hair is reestablished. On average, users see a 38% percent improvement (compared to 25% with Minoxidil).
Who is eligible for Revage?
Almost anyone with thinning hair who is in good health. Revage is especially effective for women with diffuse pattern thinning (scattered hair loss) and for younger men who are starting to see thinning and want to make their hair fuller and prevent more severe thinning and baldness. Revage is effective for all skin types/colors and hair colors.
Those under a physician’s care for chronic diseases and those with viral, bacterial and fungal infections should get clearance from their doctor before using laser hair therapy.
How many Cool Laser treatments will I need?
It will usually take a series of 24 treatments to see results. For the first 6 weeks clients come 2 times per week on non-recurring days (e.g. NOT every Thursday, but different days each week). After this, clients come once a week until the desired fullness is achieved. This makes the initial course 18 weeks long.
Is there such a thing as too much?
Yes. After the hair becomes fuller and falling out subsides the client can stop treatment until it begins to thin again. In some cases, this can be 2-3 years later (remember that hair grows in 3-6 year cycles).
How long does a Revage treatment take?
Each Revage session in our Irvine Medical facility takes 20 – 30 minutes. You may bring a book or iPod to keep yourself occupied during the session.
How can I prepare for a Revage treatment?
The key to an effective cool laser treatment is to have clean and lightly combed hair. This allows the lasers to freely reach the hair follicles within the scalp. On the day of treatment, wash the hair with a neutral shampoo and comb it out. Do not apply any gels, sprays, creams, or other hair grooming products.
